Tensiómetro de Balanza DCAT Advanced instrumentation engineered for classical and new measuring techniques.

The wetting properties of com­mon solids can be measured with electronic tensiometers, which have evolved into dynamic contact angle meters. The extensive application of internal and external computer control has provided for a high level of automation and the generation of highly reproducible results in the determination of wetting properties exhibited by powders, fibres, and fabrics as well as the thermodynamic properties of surfactant solutions.

The dynamic contact angle measuring instrument and tensiometer DCAT 11EC is the budget-priced instrument for the weight-based measurement of contact angle, surface and interfacial tension, critical micelle formation concentration, density, sedimentation and penetration rate, plus penetration resistance. The DCAT 11 is the standard instrument for applications which require a ten times improved measurement precision compared to the DCAT 11EC and an increased travel speed range and travel resolution for the sample table. For example the analysis of single fibres where a greater travel speed range and a better travel resolution is necessary. The DCAT 21 is the all-purpose dynamic contact angle measuring instrument and tensiometer. It offers a 30 mm longer travel for the sample stage than the DCAT 11 and allows therefore the use of the optional electrical temperature control unit TEC 250/DCAT.

References for national and international standards

The dynamic contact angle measuring instruments and tensiometers of the DCAT series are based on the latest balance technologies developed by the company Sartorius AG, Germany. The monolith balance systems used by our instruments operate on the principle of electro dynamic compensation, to combine the maximum precision with the greatest possible stability. The DCAT measuring instruments are fitted with 100 g reference masses of class E2 (±0.15 mg) as specified under R111 of the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML).

This ensures that all tensiometer readings comply with national and international standards, for example:

* ISO 6295 Determination of interfacial tension of oil against water.
* ISO 6889 Surface active agents - determination of interfacial tension by drawing up liquid films.
* ASTM D971-99a Standard test method for interfacial tension of oil against water by the ring method.
* ASTM D1417-03a Standard method of testing rubber latices - synthetic.
* DIN EN 14210 Surface active substances (Determination of interfacial tension of surface active solutions by frame and ring method).
