Multi-Media Attachment

Multi-Media Attachment simulates wear from liquids, powders, and fluids. Measures abrasivity of paints, adhesives, sealants, pigments, pastes, and additives.

The TABER Multi-Media Attachment 5500 is an advanced tool designed to simulate surface contact caused by liquids and powders. It's ideal for measuring the abrasion of materials such as paints, pigments, adhesives, sealants, pastes, additives, and more.

What Is the TABER Multi-Media Attachment 5500?

The TABER Multi-Media Attachment 5500 enables abrasivity testing of a wide range of liquids, powders, and semi-solids commonly used in modern manufacturing processes. Typical applications include:

  • Paints and pigments.
  • Adhesives and sealants.
  • Epoxies and pastes.
  • Detergents and industrial additives.

This attachment simulates real-world wear conditions in application equipment, making it possible to test contact surfaces such as rods, cylinders, nozzles, gears, and other moving parts.

Key Features of the TABER Multi-Media Attachment 5500

  • Adjustable gearbox with two standard drive ratios for testing various media.
  • Variable load from 250 to 2500 grams, adjustable in 250-gram increments.
  • Customizable tests by replacing the universal wear disc or brass pin holder with your own material.
  • Easily mounts to Taber Abrasers 5130/5131 or 5150/5151.
  • Compatible with all standard Taber Abrasers.

Proven Weight Loss Testing Method

In this test method, the medium is placed in a test dish where three brass pins rotate in contact with a stainless steel wear disc. The liquid, powder, or semi-solid acts as the abrasive material between the brass pins and steel disc, causing wear.

By measuring the weight loss of the brass pins after each test, you get a precise comparison of the abrasion rate across different media.

Key Benefits of the TABER Multi-Media Attachment 5500

  • Versatile testing for all types of media, from liquids to powders.
  • Accurate simulation of real application wear conditions.
  • Easy integration with Taber Abrasers for flexible, customizable testing.
