Stiffness Tester - Model 150-B

Compact analog stiffness tester for manual use. The Taber 150-B offers precise, repeatable stiffness measurements in a portable, easy-to-use design.

Accurate stiffness assessment for flexible and semi-rigid materials.

The Taber Analog Stiffness Tester 150-B is a manually operated instrument based on the original Taber V-5 design. It’s built to assess the stiffness, flexural strength, resiliency, and elasticity of a wide variety of materials such as paper, light metal foils, cardboard, laminated plastics, wire, and more.

Portable, precise, and reliable

Mounted on telescoping tripod legs, this analog stiffness tester is lightweight and easy to transport. A rugged enclosure protects the internal electronic components, making it a durable tool for lab or industrial use.

The 150-B model requires the operator to manually record assessment data, average the readings, and apply a scaling factor to calculate the final result.

How does it work?

The Taber Analog Stiffness Tester 150-B uses a two-directional pendulum system. Force is applied to the lower end of the sample via rollers attached to a rotating disc. The material’s resistance creates torque that deflects the pendulum, and a Taber Stiffness Unit (g•cm) reading is taken when the pendulum mark aligns with the appropriate disc mark (7.5° or 15°).

  • Predefined sample length, deflection angle, and loading rate.
  • Ensures accurate and repeatable results.

Assess everything from delicate to highly rigid materials

With nine test configurations, this Taber analog stiffness tester allows assessments on materials up to 5.5 mm thick and up to 10,000 Taber Stiffness Units.

Suitable for:

  • Paper and cardboard.
  • Light metallic sheets.
  • Laminated plastic.
  • Thin films.
  • Wire and other flexible materials.
